Sujit Banerjee is an independent advisor on corporate strategy to a number of companies in the finance, and finance-related technology sectors. He comes with substantial experience in running re-structuring, and in steering turnaround situations. He currently also serves as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of the Genesis Emerging Markets Fund in the United Kingdom, and SEED Financial Services Pvt. Ltd. In India. He has held prior directorships in companies in Bhutan, India, Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.
In 2009 he completed a 33 year career at Citigroup / Citibank, where he had been a Managing Director since 1996 and Senior Credit Officer since 1993; latterly serving as the Head of Strategy & Institutional M&A for Europe, the Middle-East & Africa ("EMEA"). His career at Citi included several regional roles which included Strategy, Capital Markets & Corporate Finance, and Multinational Clients within the EMEA Region. He also served as the Country & Region Head for Citi in India, and as the Head of the Corporate Business in Thailand.
An Indian National who is very comfortable working in cross-cultural environments, he has lived and worked in India, Bangladesh, Belgium, Thailand and the United Kingdom, and is currently based in Singapore. He has an undergraduate degree in French Literature from the University of Poona (Pune) and a post-graduate Business degree from the University of Bombay (Mumbai) in India.
